According to some bloggers the version offered by Skype for Mac is still 1.5 while Skype for Windows version is at 2.5. Yet despite that Mac users around the Internet seem ecstatic with the new option. The one-on-one video calls can be viewed within a window or on the whole screen and includes a small window for self viewing. The calls are free as are all Skype calls from computer to computer.
This comes on the tails of a NETGEAR announcement of yesterday about a NETGEAR (NASDAQ: NTGR) device certified to make Skype WiFi Internet calling. According to NETGEAR, the new phone has been pre-ordered in what they call "an impressive number of sales." The phone will be shipping this week to those who pre-ordered it in the U.S. and Canada. Price tag: $249.99. It will be available in Europe and Asia-Pacific by early October.
Skype is wholly owned subsidiary of eBay Inc. (NASDAQ: EBAY).

Great but wish it were more "user-friendly."

Odd that the market reaction to this announcement was a 1.5% decline in the stock value of Skype ownership... rather than the 3% to 4% value hike up that I'm sure they were expecting.
Why do you suppose that is?

Gary, I suppose that despite the general good feeling about this, Mac users still comprise a small percentage of all PC users and hence wouldn't affect bottom line so much.
